Q: How to open CC in CS4, CS5 or CS6?
A: You have to save the file in a compatible format in CC. Remember, you can always open a lower version file in a higher version platform. But to open a higher version file in lower version, you have to do this:
- In InDesign CC, click save > export to IDML (InDesign Markup Language) or File > Save As IDML.
- In Illustrator, when you save the file and the the Illustrator Options dialogue pop out, you can choose Illustrator CS 6 or CS 5 or lower in the versions drop-down menu.
- In Photoshop, go to preferences> file handling, and check Maximize PSD and PSB file compatibility.
Q: Seeing error “fonts missing” when packinging Illustrator file.
A: Illustrator CC has the new package function. But sometime you may see an error saying it can’t not package the fonts. If you are using a font from the Internet, you need to drag the .ttf or .otf downloaded font file into the fonts folder of your Illustrator package. If you are using a system font, you need to go to system => Fonts to copy the .ttf, .ttc, or .dfont file. Every time you want to edit the pakage in a new computer, you need to install those fonts in the font folder first, BEFORE opening the .ai file.
Q: Can’t print on a 11*17 paper.
A: Export the file as pdf or jpeg => open the pdf or jpeg in the Mac viewer => click print => in the pop-up window, click show details, go to paper size in the drop-down menu choose tabloid. If you want to print in gray, you need to go to color/quality in the drop-down menu => check the print as gray box.
