This is the home page for Pure Fix Cycles, a company that sells bicycles. The photo changes every time you refresh the page, but each is cut across the middle by the navigation bar. Because you can’t fully see the cycler’s face in this one, it focuses more on the bike. Since it’s a photo of a person, it’s also great that it makes use of a warm color palette. It employs the rule of thirds as well, positioning the cycler in the right part of the photo.
I find this photo very interesting. At first, it really bothered me how the man’s face was cut out of the picture. Now I see how it puts the focus on the bicycle, which is necessary because the company who owns the website sells bicycles. Since the man is riding the bicycle toward the left, it creates a sense of motion and leads the eye to the logo. The colors of the website are neutral, but the yellow wheels of the bicycle create a point of interest. This is especially effective since the yellow wheels follow the rule of thirds. The red curb and darker ceiling also helps ground the image and make it look realistic.
